THANK YOU to our Lorain County Engineer's Office for securing 75% of the necessary funding for this project ($150,000) from the Small Community grant program. The township is expecting to pay the remainder ($50,000). Trustees voted to accept the bid and signed the contract to repair the culvert. Currently, the largest hurdle to overcome is the several weeks it will take to custom build the large size box culvert the road requires. In the meantime, crews will be working on the tasks they are able to perform until the culvert is built and ready for installation. Estimated completion window is by 31 October, 2026. THANK YOU Road Department for your quick and precise work in assembling the grant paperwork so the Engineer's Office could submit almost immediately after receipt - tremendous work gentlemen!
LaGrange Township must implement an Emergency Road Closure Notice for a short section of Wheeler Road between Biggs Road and U.S. Grant Street beginning May 28th at 9:00 AM. This closure is due to the recent detection of a significant structural issue in the underlying sandstone layers in the culvert tied into the road. We must close that portion of the road immediately based on the Lorain County Engineers Office confirming that portion of the road is unsafe for traffic to pass until the issue is fixed. We are working diligently with the Lorain County Engineer’s Office for emergency repair and for our residents’ safety. Trustees are working to receive emergency funding grants and timelines to repair. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them. Our communications methods will include the Rural-Urban, LaGrange Ohio Public Forum Facebook page, Chronicle Telegram, LaGrange Township Website, and the Lorain County Engineer’s Website.
